A Destiny 2 player who subjected a Bungie community manager to threats, harassment, and racist abuse has been ordered to pay the studio more than $489,000 in damages as a result of his behavior. The incident occurred after the community manager shared some art created by UhMaayyze, a Black Destiny 2 and creator, which the ruling says “incensed” defendant Jesse James Comer and led him to start “his campaign of racist, stochastic terrorism” against the CM and Bungie.
The full ruling was shared on Twitter by paralegal Kathryn Tewson, who described Comer pointedly as “a racist shitstain of a human being” who engaged in “sociopathic conduct” against the Bungie employee and their family. Based on details in the ruling, the descriptor fits: Using an anonymizing service, Comer called the community manager’s personal line multiple times after he shared UhMaayyze’s work on social media, leaving “hideous, bigoted voicemail,” and demanding that Bungie create a Destiny 2 mode in whic…

Judas, creative director Ken Levine’s follow-up to BioShock Infinite, has been in development for years, but we knew very little about it until the basics were laid out in a story trailer in January: Players will wield a mix of weapons and not-plasmid powers aboard a giant spaceship called Mayflower, while trying to stay alive in a society run by the “Big Three” that doesn’t appear to be doing especially well.
Now we’ve got more of idea what to look forward to thanks to an in-depth new interview with IGN, in which Levine revealed who the Big Three are, what you did to make them (and everyone else) so angry, and why you need to mend some fences if you don’t want to end up dead.
(Early-game spoilers follow, so tune out if you don’t want to blow the surprise.)
The Big Three, it turns out, are not Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft. They’re Tom, the ship’s head of security; Nefertiti, a Nobel Prize-winning scientist who wants to lead humanity into the future; and Hope…
Maxis showed off a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming Sims 4: For Rent expansion and somehow the vision of evil landlordship just keeps getting more dire. We’d already found out that the new expansion would add “eviction anxiety,” burglary, and neglectful landlords, but it looks like you can be even more actively evil than that.
Presumably you can be a property owner who has some concept of decency, but The Sims 4 is really set on showing off the horrors of renting. I think they accurately clocked the player base on this one—Live Mode people are fiends. So for those of you who love to sew chaos and misery, rest assured you’ll have so many ways to do so. In the new trailer, Maxis shows:
- Posting a rent demand for past-due payments
- Threatening eviction
- Bug infestations
- Malicious ghosts?
- Tenant revolts
- Stealing your tenants’ stuff
Seriously, one Sim just pulls out a giant laser and inter-dimens…
Believe it or not, it’s been almost four years since Bioware released the first teaser and various pieces of art for the next entry in the Mass Effect series. The game will be the fifth mainline entry and is yet to be named, though the mood music is unmistakeable: following on from the botched fresh start of Mass Effect: Andromeda, widely disliked by series fans (though I thought it was alright), this is going to give the people what they say they want. Returning characters? Check. N7 logo? Check.
But what about Bioware itself? That’s a little more difficult to put a pin in, because this is now a vastly different studio from the one that was riding high through the noughties, and it’s coming off the back of two high-profile misfires, Andromeda and Anthem. The teams and talent have changed enormously, with the most notable departure for Mass Effect fans probably being Casey Hudson in 2020, who directed the original trilogy and was involved in the early concepting of this new ga…
